COLDER AND WINDY WEATHER ON THE WAY !

THURSDAY EVENING

8:00 PM

A COLD & WINDY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY: FOLLOWED BY SOME WINTRY PRECIPITATION ON SUNDAY.

A cold front passed through the region this afternoon, which was accompanied by some showers and even a few Thunderstorms. Colder and Windy conditions are on tap for tonight, through Saturday, as colder air with windy conditions follow behind the cold front and High pressure settles into the Delaware Valley. Temperatures tomorrow should stay in the mid to upper 30's with NW Winds of 15 to 30 MPH and high gusts to 40 MPH. Saturday should also be chilly with temperatures 35 to 40 and brisk winds of 10 to 20 MPH and gusty.

A storm system will approach the Midwest and Ohio Valley on Saturday as High pressure over Hudson Bay noses down into the NE over the weekend. With cold air in place and a CAD signiture for Sunday, some overrrunning precipitation will break out ahead of the storm over the Ohio Valley. Some Snow or Mixed Snow/Sleet and Freezing rain are possible Sunday morning. This will change to rain in Southern NJ and DE during the afternoon hours as temperature reach to mid and upper 30's. Warmer air aloft will also work in from the SW ahead of the Midwest Low pressure system.

Models are now showing this system will likely weaken as a secondary low developes near the Mid Atlantic coast late Sunday and Sunday night. This low will also be quite weak, but may prolong the precipitation into Sunday night. I'm expecting a mix of Rain and snow from PHL N & W for Sunday night, with Rain possibly mixing with some snow over Southern NJ and Northern DE. I'm Excpecting some light accumulations with this event, but no more than, A Coating to 1" possible Sunday morning, mainly in Eastern PA and Central NJ. Also some light to moderate Icing is possible. I will update more on this system over the weekend, probably Saturday, with the lastest information and any changes that may be needed with this wintry event.

Take Care,
Ruggie
