A Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10:00 PM

Sunday Evening: 7/9/09

Severe Thunderstorm Watchbox # 684. Complete statement.
http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/watch/ww0684.html

This Watch includes the entire Delaware Valley Region.

I expect this line of storms to affect in and around the Philadelphia area and suburbs, between 6:30 and 7:30 this Evening. This line of strong to Severe Thunderstorms, then presses south and east to affect Delaware and points east into Southern NJ, between 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM. The NJ and DE Beaches mainly after 9:00 PM.

These storms will produce heavy rainfall, dangerous lightning, and some area hail. Wind gusts to 60 MPH are also possible in the strongest cells.

Once again, Paul and I are "ground zero" for this line of storms.

At 6:40, it's dark and we can hear the thunder...it should be "showtime" shortly.

6:45 PM

Serious rumbling and growling going on to my NW. Looks like this line and it's heaviest cells are heading my way. Salem and Glocester CO's in line for heaviest activy.

One of these days, I'll get a weather station, but I'm sure this morning we had at least 2" in the bucket.

Enjoy the show!

Dee, Thanks for the Obs.

Sounds like WWIII and bombs going off. Should be here in about 15 minutes, nasty line and cells headed my way.

At 7:12...it's over. Just a few sprinkles, and that's it.

The best storm of the year. Wind gust to 45 MPH and torential downpour, with very good cloud to ground lightning. I picked up .75" of rain in 25 minutes. Total for the day 1.45"

My Preliminary 2009-2010 Winter Outlook will be issued this weekend. August 15th or 16th. This is just a rough idea with limited details and not an official call. This will be more for the NE and M/A States.

My Offical Winter Outlook will be issued in early/Mid October. This is the real deal with more details and overview for the entire nation.
