Discussion:

Sunday: 2/24/08
A Pair of nice days are on tap for the Delaware Valley, for both Today and Monday, as High Pressure settles in over the M/A States. We can expect near seasonable temperatures in the low 40's with Mostly Sunny skies Sunday. On Monday We'll become somewhat milder, as a return southerly flow develops from our exiting high. Skies will remain Partly Sunny and Highs will be in the Upper 40's to near 50.
For Sunday Night:
A weak area of low pressure will pass to our south tonight and exit off the Carolina coast Monday AM. There's a slight chance that parts of Central/Southern DE into South Jersey, could see a Brief period of light snow or a few flurries, later tonight or Early Monday Morning. A few spots could see a light coating.
Monday/Monday Night:
A storm system will begin to take shape over the Central Plains on Monday, and begin moving eastward into the Midwest, and Lower Ohio Valley on Monday Night. I'm expecting a rain event for Later Monday Night into Tuesday Evening, as this storm moves East Northeast to Southern New England on Tuesday Night. Just enough cold air will be in place for late Monday night, where areas in the Lehigh Valley and Pocono's, could start as a period of snow/sleet and Freezing rain, with light accumulations possible in the Pocono's and NE PA.
Tuesday/Tuesday Night:
I'm going with periods of rain for Tuesday/Tuesday Evening, and Breezy conditions, with temperatures in the Upper 40's to lower 50's. This storm system will strengthen Tuesday Night and Wednesday as it moves towards Nova Scotia. This will pull down much colder air, along with a strong cold front for Tuesday night, as it exits Northeastward. Cold Air Advection (CAA) and windy conditions will follow, along with showers, changing to snow showers and flurries, later Tuesday Night into Wednesday. Some of this snow shower and flurry activity, could produce a coating of snow in some spots, mainly north of PHL and into the Lehigh Valley and Pocono's
Wednesday through Friday:
Strong High Pressure then builds in for later Wednesday, and dominates our weather through Friday, bringing Fair and colder conditions to close out the week. Highs will be near 40 for both Thursday and Friday, with lows 20 to 25.
Something to watch for Friday Night into Saturday !
As we approach next weekend, I have my eyes on a system that could bring both rain and wet snow for Friday night and Saturday. An Alberta Clipper system and Cold front will track to the Northern M/A States or Southern New England during this time. Just enough cold air will remain that some rain and snow is possible for Friday Night. On Saturday colder air filters in behind the system, and some additional strengthening is possible, as it moves to the Coast. This system needs to be watched, as colder air and additional moisture, could bring some rain and mixed precip, changing to snow and snow showers for Saturday and Saturday Night. I'll have more on this possible threat, towards the middle of this week.
Take Care,
Ruggie
