Discussion and Forecast:
6/10/08
A cold front now in the Midwest and Ohio Valley will continue to move eastward today and tonight. A very strong Ridge of High Pressure off the SE coast into the M/A Region will be stubborn to move out, so one more day of Very Hot and Humid weather for today. Temps will be in the mid to Upper 90's for the entire region today. Some scattered showers and Thunderstorms will develop this evening as our cold front approaches.
I'm not expecting any widespread or Severe activity tonight over SE PA, Southern NJ, and DE. Some areas further north from NE PA into the NYC area will likely see more widespread activity and possibly Isolated Severe Thunderstorms. The ridge will be quite strong and the front will weaken enough as it approaches the coast tonight, that most will be spared any widespread activity or severe weather tonight. Once again from NE PA to Northern NJ and SE NY, will have the best chance for some severe thunderstorms and more widespread activity.
Our cold front will clear the coast later tonight into the early morning hours tomorrow, and will usher in less humid air, and cooler temps. Highs on Wednesday will be in the mid to Upper 80's and lower humidity. Though still quite warm, this will feel refreshing compared to our last 4 days of intense heat and humidity.
For Thursday and Friday expect partly to mostly Sunny skies with highs in the mid 80's and continued lower humidity. Fair and cooler conditions can be expected at night with lows in the Upper 50's in the suburbs and low to mid 60's in the Urban areas of PHL and ILG.
Take Care,
Ruggie
