Rain Mixes with Snow, Sleet, and Freezing Rain as Colder Air Filters In Today and Tonight.

My Call:
For The Delaware/Lehigh Valley's and into NYC metro areas.
12/16/08
Tuesday AM.

A Cold front will move through the region this AM, as colder air slowly filters in from the North and Northwest. Strong High pressure will move to our north later today and tonight keeping us in a Northerly flow of cold air. Weak low pressure will develop along this front and move east later today and tonight. Precip. will become steadier this afternoon and into tonight as this system moves through. Rain will mix with and change to snow and sleet from the lehigh Valley into northern NJ this AM, then work it's way south and east into our Northern and western Suburbs during the early afternoon hours.

For PHL, East Central NJ, Interior Southern NJ, and Northern DE, Rain will mix with snow and Sleet later this afternoon and into this evening. Temps will slowly drop to the mid 30's throughout the Delaware Valley this afternoon.

A Coating of Snow and Sleet is possible in these areas this evening, before changing back to rain after midnight, then ending later.

Any snow and sleet accumulations will be mainly North and West of PHL and into the Lehigh Valley. A general Coating to 2" can be expected in these areas, with the best chance of a couple inches being from Reading PA into Allentown PA.

From the Pocono's into NW NJ, 2" to 4" of snow and sleet can be expected, along with some Freezing rain later tonight into early Wednesday AM.

From Trenton NJ, Interior Central NJ, then Northeast into the NYC Metro area, I'm forecasting a Coating to near 1".

Sunday is interesting for possible accumulating snow. Christmas week is looking cold and chances will increase during the week for some snow. We are getting there now, and I think before the New Year, we see accumulating snow.
