THE DOG DAYS ARE HERE TO STAY ! My Weekend Outlook

Discussion:
Friday 7/24/09

Well guys, it looks like the dog days of Summer are here, starting this weekend and continuing into much of next week. This is typical Summer weather for late July and early August, as very warm and humid conditions will be the general rule into much of next week. But can we really complain this summer, not at all. We've been cooler than normal for both June and July over the entire area, with near and above normal rainfall. The crops are looking green, and very healthy for the farmers this year, no doubt. So, I guess We'll see the SJ and DE Farmers driving around on new Harley Davidson Bikes, and New Sporty cars this Fall, but still complaining they had another bad year, and are broke and battered ! Lol

On a good note it won't be Hot, but more Very Warm and Muggy through early next week. A few Isolated Showers and Thunderstorms can be expected this evening, and again later Saturday, but overall it should be dry and rain free. The best chance for more widespread showers and thunderstorms will occur on Sunday afternoon and into the evening. A weak Cold Front will be crossing the region during Sunday night, so with the warm and humid air mass in place, this will help trigger these storms, as the atmosphere becomes more unstable.

This front will be quite weak, and I don't see much relief from the very warm and humid conditions as we head into early next week. At best we should see slightly lower humidity and highs in the mid to upper 80's on Monday.

My Forecast for the Delaware Valley: 7/25 - 7/27
Includes: SE PA, Central/Southern NJ, and DE.

Tonight:
Partly Cloudy with some showers and Thunderstorms this evening. The best chance will be North and West of PHL. Lows in the mid 60 to near 70. Late night patchy Fog towards the coast.

Saturday:
Some morning clouds and patchy fog, giving way to Partly Sunny skies, then a few isolated showers and Storms possible later. Very warm and Humid. Highs in the Upper 80's. Parts of Interior Southern NJ and DE could see some lower 90's. Breezy with winds South to SW at 10 to 20 Mph.

Saturday Night:
Partly Cloudy with an isolated shower during the early evening hours, continued humid with lows near 70. Once again, some late night low clouds and patchy fog developing, over parts of NJ and DE especially towards the coast.

Sunday:
Partly to mostly cloudy during the early morning hours, then some sunshine develops towards noon. A better chance of scattered showers and Thunderstorms during the afternoon hours over the entire Delaware Valley, some thunderstorms can be strong to severe. Continued very warm and humid, with highs in the Upper 80's. Winds SW at 10 to 15 Mph. Strong and Gusty in any thunderstorms.

Sunday Night:
A few showers and thunderstorms possible during the evening, then P.Cloudy.
Lows 65 to 70.

Monday:
Partly sunny, warm and less humid, with a slight chance of an Isolated late afternoon shower or thunderstorm. Highs in the mid to upper 80's.

Have a great weekend !
Ruggie
