Issued: Friday 10/16/09
For: The Delaware Valley Region.
Friday Night through Monday Forecast.
More of the same cold, nasty, raw weather continues for the weekend, as our second coastal storm develops and move slowly up the coast. I outlined in my discussion from the past couple of Posts that this second storm system will be quite strong, and will cause additional mod/heavy rainfall. Strong gusty winds, and some additional street and coastal flooding are likely. Beach erosion will continue to be a problem along the DE and NJ shorelines. Winds will increase Friday night into Saturday night to 20-35 Mph and gusts to 50 at the shore, with 15-25 Mph and gusts to 35 over much of SE PA, NJ, and DE.
I also want to mention the chance for some wet snow and sleet mixing in for the NW suburbs of PHL during Saturday night, this will occur during heavier periods of Precip, as the column cools aloft, and drags down just enough cold air, for some frozen precip at the surface. Rain and a mix of rain, sleet, and snow can be expected for the Lehigh Valley, where a light accumulation is possible between tonight and Saturday night.
Tonight:
Becoming windy and continued cold, with periods of light rain and drizzle this evening, then becoming more steady overnight. Lows tonight between 34-38. Winds NE @ 15-25 Mph.
Saturday:
Cloudy, windy, and continued cold, with periods of rain that could be mod/heavy at times. Highs 43-47. Winds NE 15-25 Mph with Gusts to 35 Mph. Stronger winds at the shore points of 20-35 Mph can be expected some gusts to near 50 Mph. Winds NE @ 15-25 Mph with gusts to near 35 Mph.
Saturday Night:
Continued Stormy and cold with rain, mod/heavy at times. Some street and coastal flooding possible. Once again rain could be mixed with wet snow and sleet at times for points North and west of PHL. Lows 34-38 NW of PHL and 37-41 for SJ and DE.
Sunday:
Periods of rain in the morning, will taper off to some showers and areas of drizzle during the afternoon. Continued cloudy, breezy and chilly. Highs 47 - 52. Winds becoming North at 10-20 Mph.
Sunday Night: >>>> (Phillies game)<<<<>
Cloudy with spotty areas of light rain and drizzle during the early evening, then mostly cloudy and continued cold, lows 35 -40.
I'm forecasting the Phillies game will be played Sunday night. Game temps will be mainly in the mid to upper 40's ,with some Occasional drizzle or light showers throughout the game. Breezy with winds out of the North @ 10-20 Mph. So, those fortunate enough going to this game, bundle Up !
Monday:
Partly Sunny and continued cool with highs 53-57
Have a Great Weekend & Go Phillies !
