Heavy Rain & Stormy followed by Blustery and Colder weather !

Tuesday PM
12/8/09
For the Delaware Valley Region: SE PA, DE, Southern/Central NJ

A strong storm system now in the Central Rockies and southern Plains, is now producing widespread heavy snow, and near blizzard conditions throughout the Central/Southern Rockies, and into much of the Plains States. This storm will continue to strengthen as it heads for the Midwest later tonight, and into the Great Lakes on Wednesday.

As this storm approaches, rain and milder temperatures will work there way in tonight and into early Wednesday. Some of this rain will be quite heavy, and winds will increase later tonight and tomorrow. High temps on Wednesday will be in the low to mid 50's.

During early Wednesday afternoon much of this rain will be moving out and strong gusty winds and colder temperatures will follow for Wed Night into Thursday. Winds of 15-30 Mph and gusts to near 40 Mph can be expected on Thursday with Highs in the Upper 30's.

Friday will be breezy and very cold with P.Sunny skies, and highs only in the low to mid 30's.

The Weekend:
Expect cold conditions to continue both Saturday and Sunday with highs in the upper 30's and lows in the mid to upper 20's. A weak storm system will be moving across the Tenn Valley and off the Carolina Coast on Sunday AM.

Some areas, many south of PHL in both DE and SJ, could see a period of snow or wintry precip during Saturday night into Sunday morning. It's to early to say the exact impact of this storm, but at this time this looks like a minor snow event if things do materialize.

I'll have much more on this system on Thursday night or Friday and i'll talk more about some big cold and snow potential over the next 2 weeks. The pattern is very favorable for the M/A and NE, so get ready for a possible on slot of winter before the Holidays.

Hi Jenny,
I'll be doing a write-up tonight or Friday. You'll have the scoop kiddo, so be patient and hang in there. BTW, No plows needed this weekend, I can pretty much assure you of that ;-)
