Seasonably Cold Weather Continues. Some Mixed Precip & Rain Later Thursday/Thursday Night. Followed by "A VERY COLD BLAST" for the Weekend.

Discussion:

An Upper Level Disturbance, along with some added Instability in the atmosphere, brought a round of Flurries and some Heavy Snow Squalls to the region Tuesday Afternoon. Some areas received a Coating to 1" of Snow. Here in Pittsgrove a couple of nice Snow Squalls, gave a nice covering of around 1/2".

High Pressure will build in for tonight and into Wednesday, with Clearing Skies for tonight and Sunny weather for Wednesday. This will be short lived, as a storm will begin to develop Wednesday in the GOM, and move to the SE Coast on Thursday. Just enough cold air will be in place for Thursday as precipitation moves in during the day, that some areas especially from PHL North and West, could start as some snow and Sleet. No Accumulation can be expected as this precip will quickly change to Rain later in the day and at Night.

Low Pressure will move up the M/A Coast on Thursday Night, and Merge with a Stronger Western Low moving through the Great Lakes Region. This will take Place Friday into Saturday over New England. A very strong Arctic Front associated with this system, will move through the area Friday Night, bringing very cold air for the weekend. Some Flurries and Snow showers are possible over the weekend especially for Saturday and Saturday Night, with CAA (Cold Air Advection)

I'll have more on this later this week, with my Weekend Outlook. Temperatures with be very cold in the 30's on Saturday, and in the Upper 20's on Sunday for Highs. Windy conditions will be the rule, especially on Saturday, so a wind chill factor will be prevalent.

My Forecast:
For the Delaware Valley

Thursday:
Becoming Cloudy in the Morning with Light Snow/Sleet and Rain developing towards Noon...Mixed precip changing to Rain towards evening for PHL on South and East. Cold with Highs 35 to 40. A Coating possible of Snow and Sleet for PHL and nearby Suburbs.
Up to 1" Possible well North and West of PHL, near Reading and Allentown (Lehigh Valley)

Thursday Night:
Mixed Precip changing to Rain for PHL on North and West by late Evening. A Cold Rain likely elsewhere. Lows in the low to Mid 30's

Friday:
Cloudy with some Showers early in the Morning. Clearing in the afternoon. Highs in the low to mid 40s.

Take Care,
Ruggie
