Cold Blast on the way Monday through Thursday. Some Rain/Snow Showers for Monday Night into Wednesday Morning.Cold for Phils Game Monday Night.

Monday AM Update:
10/27/08

No changes to my call. Once again The best chance for the Delaware Valley to see it's first flakes of the season will be Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Mainly showers mixed with some wet snow, especially North and west of the city, but PHL and areas in Northern DE and Southern NJ, still have a shot at some wet snow flakes mixed in Later Tuesday night and Wednesday AM.

For the Lehigh Valley, your chances for snow showers during this timeframe and looking pretty good. No Accumulations. The higher elevations of NE PA (Pocono's) and NW NJ, could see a light coating with heavier snow showers Tuesday Night and Wednesday AM.

For later today into Tuesday a few periods of rain and showers look like a good bet, but North Central and NE PA will see some snow mixing in, as the CAA, starts to really kick in, and the LES sets up, in favored areas with a NW flow in NW PA and Western NY State. A coastal storm develops off NJ, and induces some additional moisture, later tonight into Tuesday.

For our friends in New England, parts of far Upstate NY, VT, NH and Western ME, get ready for accumulating snow, as our coastal develops tonight off the NJ coast, intesifies and moves into ME by Tuesday Night. Some areas of Northern NY State, VT and NW NH, could see 4" to 8" amounts with this potent storm and Cold air outbreak. Good Luck up there. The Higher elevations have the best shot at the 8" amounts.

Take Care,
Ruggie

Get ready for a Cold Blast and blustery conditions Monday through Thursday, as a deep H5 trough digs southeast into the Northeast, and Mid Atlantic States through weeks end. The leading edge of this unseasonably cold air mass, will be accompanied by a cold front moving through Monday morning. This front will move through relatively dry, but cloudiness and strong NW winds will follow for Monday afternoon.

CAA (Cold Air Advection) will begin to kick in as this trough moves slowly into our region, through the middle and later part of the week. With cold air aloft and The Great Lakes still being quite warm, the LES machine will kick in and some snow showers will develop across parts of PA and NY state for Monday afternoon into Wednesday. With a persistant strong NW flow at the surface and aloft, some of these showers and snow showers will move Southeastward to the northern M/A coast and parts of New England. Many areas of the Delaware Valley, especially North and West of PHL, have a good shot at seeing the seasons first snowflakes. The best chance will be later Monday night into Tuesday morning, then again Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Areas from PHL and into Northern DE and Southern NJ will see some light showers and possibly mixing with some wet snow Tuesday night, as the coldest of the air can be expected at this time. I expect no accumulation with this activity, as most of these instability type showers from CAA over the lakes, will weaken as they approach the coast. In the higher elevations of Northern and NE PA, from the Pocono's North, including far NW NJ , could see some light accumulations with these snow showers, for both Monday night and Tuesday night.

For the Delaware Valley: Temperatures will remain in the mid 50's on Monday, but Highs for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, will be in the Mid to upper 40's, north and west of PHL, and in the Upper 40's to low 50's over DE and Southern NJ. This will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal, during this period. Overnight lows in the Upper 20's to mid 30's can be expected. Later in the week temps will slowly moderate, as the trough lifts northeast and out of the areas. Temps on Friday will remain slightly below normal and remain in the 50's during the day.

I'll update Monday or Tuesday if I see any changes, but overall a much colder and unstable pattern can be expected for much of the upcoming week.

Take Care,
Ruggie

Niecy does not like the weather when it interrupts the Phillies winning the World Series. But do not worry honey it will happen. Just remember I am your sunshine.
